How NZVisit.com makes money, and what that does and doesn't affect.
NZVisit.com is a travel guide, not a booking platform. Every "Book" or "Check availability" button on this site hands you off to GetYourGuide, and we earn a commission when you book a tour through one of those links — GetYourGuide pays us, not you, and the price you pay is the same either way. We do not mark tours up, and we have no way to change what GetYourGuide or its tour operators charge.
Your booking, payment, ticket and confirmation email all come from GetYourGuide. NZVisit.com never sees or stores your card details, and we are not the merchant of record for anything you book — see our FAQs for what that means if you need to change or cancel a booking.
We're paid the same commission rate regardless of which tour, operator or destination you book, so we have no financial reason to favour one over another. The destination and activity guides on this site are researched and written to be genuinely useful — including honest warnings where they matter, like correcting the widely repeated (and wrong) claim that Milford Sound is a four-hour drive from Queenstown, or warning that natural hot pools carry a real risk of Naegleria fowleri infection — not to steer you toward whichever listing pays the most. Where a cheaper non-affiliate alternative exists, such as Hot Water Beach's free self-dug pools or Kuirau Park's free public foot pools in Rotorua, we say so.
Running a researched guide to New Zealand costs real time — this one is written and fact-checked in-house, not templated or generated from thin listings. The GetYourGuide commission is what funds that, instead of ads or a paywall.
