The Sofitel is at 21 Viaduct Harbour Avenue, among the waterfront bars and restaurants, with the Sky Tower about 820 m away. It opened in 2011, was renovated in 2023 and has 91 rooms, which is small for a five-star city hotel.
Facilities include an indoor heated pool, spa, sauna and gym, plus the La Marée restaurant for breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails. On-site parking is charged at about NZ$52 a night. Pets are not welcome.
Good for a first night or last night in New Zealand, when you want a pool and a harbour walk rather than a long transfer. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is at 11:00.
